Most caterers in Ahmedabad advertise years in business. Years are easy. You get them by not closing.
We would rather you judged us on how many people we have actually fed, because that is what catering is a test of. Anyone can plate forty covers well. The question is what happens when eight hundred people reach the counters inside the same ten minutes, on the fourth night of a five-function wedding, at a venue with one service entrance.
Since 2012, we have answered that question 150,000 times.
Not “we specialise in vegetarian.” Not “excellent vegetarian options available.”
Vinayak Caterers has never operated a non-vegetarian kitchen. Same equipment, same oil, same staff, same serving line. Vegetarian, every event, without exception.
This costs us work. Mixed-menu functions in this city go to caterers who serve both, and we are not in the running for them. We have accepted that permanently.
Because the moment a kitchen handles both, “pure vegetarian” stops being a fact and becomes a claim. And the people in your family who genuinely care, the ones who have eaten satvik their whole lives, the Jain relatives, the elders, can tell the difference between a caterer who offers vegetarian and one for whom nothing else exists.
If your function needs non-vegetarian food, we will tell you on the first call that we are not the right caterer for it.

Conferences, annual days, convocations, AGMs, product launches and dealer meets.

Every cuisine below is cooked in the same vegetarian kitchen. Nothing is bought in, nothing is outsourced to a second kitchen, and there is no version of any of these dishes on our menu that contains meat, fish or egg.

The food most of our functions are built around. Farsan through to mishthan: dhokla, khaman, patra, undhiyu in season, dal dhokli, the full Kathiyawadi and Surti ranges. This is home cooking at function scale, and it is what we are asked for most often.
No onion, no garlic, no root vegetables. Cooked in a separate section of the kitchen, plated separately, and served from its own marked counter with its own staff, not a labelled tray at the end of a shared line. Swaminarayan and fasting-day requirements are planned into the kitchen at booking, not decided at seven in the evening.
Paneer in its many forms, dal makhani, chole, the tandoori vegetarian range, and the breads that go with them: naan, kulcha, tandoori roti, laccha paratha, cooked to order at a live bread station.
Dosa, uttapam, idli and vada from a live tawa, with sambhar and the chutneys made in house. Popular as a live counter at sangeet and reception functions, where guests eat across three hours rather than in one rush.
Dal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi, ker sangri, papad ki sabzi. Heavier, spiced differently to Gujarati, and increasingly requested at Ahmedabad weddings where one side of the family is from Rajasthan.
Manchurian, noodles, fried rice, spring rolls, momos. Almost always the counter the younger guests find first, and a fixture at sangeet and birthday functions.
Pasta cooked to order at a live station, thin-crust pizza, grilled vegetables, soups and salads. Requested at corporate events and receptions more than anywhere else.
Tacos, nachos, mocktail bars, and the Indian street-food counters: pani puri, dahi papdi chaat, pav bhaji, sev usal. Chaat counters run continuously rather than in a single service window, which is what makes them work at large functions.
Most of the above can be run as a live counter rather than a buffet line, with a chef cooking to order in front of guests. Which cuisines suit a live counter depends on your guest count and how long your function runs. We work that out with you when we meet.
If your family expects a particular regional cuisine that is not listed, ask. The kitchen team has been cooking in Ahmedabad since 2002, and the range is wider than any page can list. The one thing that never changes is that all of it is pure vegetarian.
Most of our work is outdoor catering: party plots, banquet grounds, society terraces, college campuses and open venues across Ahmedabad. We set up on site rather than sending food out from a fixed kitchen, which is what makes a 1,500-guest function possible somewhere with no kitchen of its own.
It is not a separate service. It is how we cater almost everything on this page.

Beyond the three above, we regularly cater birthdays, house parties and family gatherings; satsang, katha and religious gatherings; naming ceremonies and janoi; housewarming and vastu puja functions; anniversaries and family get-togethers; and school and college functions.
If your function is not on this page, ask. The answer is usually yes. The only firm limits are that we cater pure vegetarian food only, and we do not take functions below 50 guests.

There is no menu on this website, and that is deliberate.
Every function we cater is built around the family or the company it is for. What suits a 200-guest sagai at home is not what suits a 1,500-guest reception, and neither is a list we could have printed in advance. So we do not hand you three fixed packages and ask which tier you want.
What we need first is the date. There is no minimum notice period, and we have catered full functions booked a fortnight out, but the date is what tells us straight away whether we can take your function at all.
Send us four things: your date, your venue or area, roughly how many guests, and what the function is. We will come back the same working day on whether we are free. The menu gets built properly when we meet.
Because a per-plate rate is the least useful number in catering, and any caterer who gives you one before asking where your venue is, is giving you a number they intend to change.
The same 300-guest function costs differently in a banquet hall with a working kitchen than on a society terrace with a lift and no water point. Staffing, equipment, transport, setup time: all of it moves.
Give us the date, venue, guest count and format. You will get an itemised written quotation we stand behind.
Most of our work is at party plots, banquet halls and open venues rather than out of a fixed location, so the address on your invitation is rarely the constraint.
We cater across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, including Gurukul, Navrangpura, Vastrapur, Satellite, Bodakdev, Thaltej, SG Highway, Prahladnagar, Bopal, Maninagar, Sanand, GIFT City, and travel beyond the city for functions where the scale justifies it. If your venue is outside this list, ask rather than assume.

There is no fixed minimum notice period. Vinayak Caterers accepts bookings throughout the year, including short-notice functions booked around a fortnight in advance. Dates during wedding season, roughly November to February, fill earlier than the rest of the year, so it is worth checking availability as soon as the date is known.
